A LABOR OF LOVE

Vintage Broach Cocktail Dress
I have always told my children to follow their passion and make their work a labor of love…

And so that is what this collection is for me; my labor of love, created designed and made with quality, integrity, and most importantly my heart and soul.

My greatest passion is to empower women with confidence through style.

Each piece embodies my pledge and will stand the test of time.

I believe this is true luxury clothing to be embraced and cherished.

With Love,

Shooting For The Stars

Brooke Burke and Christina Makowsky

Hi Girls —

I’m sharing a photo with you from a recent fashion shoot in Malibu with Brooke Burke, actress, model, co-host of Dancing with the Stars — and, in my opinion, a modern day Grace Kelly.

The shoot took place at Brooke’s spectacular home and will appear on the cover and inside spread of Beverly Hills Lifestyle Magazine’s summer issue, coming out on June 1st, 2010. She is wearing a few of my favorite Christina Makowsky pieces and… wow… is all I can say. She’s got the part.

Big thanks and deep gratitude to Mark Kurian from Beverly Hills Lifestyle Magazine who made this dream come true. And a big “MMMMMWah!” for my mother too, as she has always encouraged me to shoot for the stars : )

XOXO,
Christina

Big Weekend for Christina Makowsky the Brand

Thank you to all who helped me get to this point.  I thank you for all the love and support from all my girls out there who have followed me and my style. I am living my dream because of all of you.

Another quote from Mom – “Live Your Dream”

Hello Friends and Fashion Lovers

A year and-a-half ago, when America’s financial institutions were crumbling, the Madoff scandal broke and the economy teetered on the brink of Depression, I, like so many business owners, faced the painful question: Can I keep my doors open? Can I continuing selling high priced designer collections to clients who no longer had the funds, the confidence, the social calendar or the social conscience that called for them?

It took me months to face the inevitable reality that I had to let go. No marketing plan, new sales strategy or email blast could change the conditions of the world.  So, on February 28, 2009, I closed the doors of Georgina Boutiques after 28 wonderful, deeply fulfilling years in business. I felt lost, like a part of me, too, had died. It’s who I was for most of my life.

The beautiful thing about life is that after death there is rebirth. And so, a dream I had tucked away long ago began to stir: ‘Go back to your roots,’ it beckoned. ‘Design your own clothing based on all you have learned and your highest ideals for what fashion should be.’ And so I did. Urgently. Lovingly. Passionately.

And, so, it is with tremendous gratefulness that I launch the Christina Makowsky Brand— collections of the highest quality, hand-made (never mass marketed) iconic women’s wear clothing that is chic, sophisticated and timeless.  Every piece is lovingly made in America and proceeds benefit humanitarian causes that you can feel good about. Everything I have ever wanted to do personally in fashion has been put into this brand, including all of my heart and soul.

Explore my website and please feel free to pass along your comments and feedback.

To quote my spirited Italian New York mother, “when one door closes, don’t let it hit you on the way out.” Well mom, I’ve done my best.

With Love,

Christina
